Semaglutide, the drug sold as Ozempic and Wegovy, was linked to nearly 40% fewer asthma attacks in a large real-world study. The same study associated it with about 20% fewer COPD flare-ups.
Researchers say GLP-1 drugs may offer respiratory benefits on top of their effects on diabetes and obesity. They caution that clinical trials are needed to confirm the findings, so the link is not yet proof that semaglutide causes the drop.
