OpenRouter has added a model entry called "OpenAI: GPT Sol Latest" to its catalogue. The listing says the entry always redirects to the latest model in the OpenAI GPT Sol family, and the record is listed as ~openai/gpt-sol-latest.
The page is titled "OpenAI GPT Sol Latest - API Pricing & Benchmarks", and it displays "Latest GPT-5.6 Sol" alongside the entry. That display indicates the alias currently points at the GPT-5.6 Sol model rather than a fixed version.
For anyone maintaining an app that calls a model by name, the alias removes a version bump: a call to "GPT Sol Latest" follows the newest model in the family, while a fixed model name stays where it was set. What the alias does not preserve is a pinned version.
OpenRouter's page does not say how quickly the redirect follows a new release, or whether calls through the alias are priced differently from a direct call to the current model. Teams that need a fixed model for reproducibility still have to name the version they tested.
